New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking an Intermediate Release Lead / Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of software releases and associated projects across complex enterprise environments.
The Release Lead / Project Manager will work across development, testing, infrastructure, operations, business teams, and third-party vendors to coordinate release activities, manage risks and dependencies, support governance and compliance requirements, and ensure releases are delivered on time, within scope, and with minimal operational risk. The successful candidate will combine strong project management skills with hands-on technical knowledge of software delivery, CI/CD, deployment automation, Agile/DevOps practices, and the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain release schedules, deployment calendars, release plans, milestones, dependencies, and implementation activities.
- Manage concurrent small and medium-sized projects using appropriate project management and/or Agile practices.
- Support budgeting, resource planning, prioritization, and overall release planning activities.
- Coordinate testing, implementation, training, and transition-to-support activities.
- Coordinate release and project activities across development, testing, infrastructure, operations, application support, business teams, and third-party vendors.
- Facilitate release readiness reviews, go/no-go meetings, implementation activities, and post-release retrospectives.
- Ensure adherence to release management policies, change management processes, security reviews, governance requirements, compliance obligations, and audit trail requirements.
- Identify, assess, track, and mitigate release-related risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery blockers.
- Monitor release performance and identify opportunities to improve release efficiency, deployment processes, automation, and DevOps practices.
- Prepare and maintain project and release reporting, including status updates, Gantt charts, burndown charts, risks, issues, and progress reporting for business and technical stakeholders.
- Act as a primary point of contact for release-related communications and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, product owners, vendors, and technical teams.
- Ensure alignment between business priorities, release schedules, project deliverables, and technical dependencies.
- Coordinate third-party vendor activities that may impact release or project timelines.
- Hold project and delivery team members accountable for commitments and assist with removing impediments affecting delivery.
- Collaborate with development teams to understand application architecture, deployment requirements, technical dependencies, and implementation risks.
- Review deployment scripts, CI/CD pipelines, and release automation processes.
- Support troubleshooting efforts during deployments as required.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, architecture, and process improvements where appropriate.
- Support continuous improvement of release management and deployment practices.
Must Have Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Release Management, Project Management, Software Development, or a related technical role.
- Experience managing software releases in Agile and/or DevOps environments.
- Working knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and deployment automation.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Demonstrated project management experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to Have
- PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, Scrum Master, or ITIL certification.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
- Knowledge of infrastructure, networking, and application support processes.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale releases in a regulated or complex environment, including compliance and audit requirements.
- Proficiency in scripting or development languages such as PowerShell, Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
