About the Job:
We are partnered with a global medical imaging and digital pathology technology company to appoint a Clinical Application Specialist – Digital Pathology in Canada.
This role will support the deployment, implementation and ongoing adoption of digital pathology solutions across pathology departments and laboratories. You will work closely with customers to understand their existing workflows, support their transition from glass to digital pathology and ensure clinical teams are confident using the technology.
The position combines pathology workflow expertise, customer training, system implementation and technical/application support.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse end-to-end pathology and histology workflows, from accessioning and grossing through slide scanning, case assignment, diagnosis and sign-out.
- Advise pathology laboratories on transitioning from microscope-based workflows to fully digital pathology, including scanning strategies, slide/case tracking and image quality control.
- Support new system implementations, upgrades and customer deployments.
- Work with customers and technical teams on whole-slide scanner and Laboratory Information System (LIS) integration workflows.
- Plan and deliver training for pathologists, residents, histotechnologists, laboratory staff and system administrators.
- Support acceptance testing, validation and on-site go-live activities.
- Provide ongoing application support and troubleshoot clinical workflow and application-related issues.
- Support customers with the adoption of image analysis and AI tools within pathology workflows.
- Develop training materials and act as a subject matter expert for digital pathology internally and externally.
- Travel approximately 25–30% to customer sites.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent qualification, in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, Life Sciences or a related field.
- Hands-on experience within an anatomical pathology or histology laboratory, ideally as a Histotechnologist, Pathologists' Assistant, Laboratory Supervisor or Clinical/Application Specialist.
- Strong understanding of the complete pathology laboratory workflow, from accessioning and grossing through slide preparation, diagnosis and sign-out.
- Strong communication, presentation and customer-facing skills with the ability to train both individuals and larger groups.
- Comfortable working across clinical and technical teams and troubleshooting workflow challenges.
- Fluent English.
- Experience with digital pathology, whole-slide imaging/scanners, image management systems, LIS integrations or pathology AI/image analysis would be highly advantageous. French language skills would also be beneficial.
