About Nucleon
Nucleon Energy is developing a new uranium conversion facility to help strengthen the Western nuclear fuel supply chain. The nuclear industry is entering a significant period of growth, driven by increasing electricity demand, energy security, renewed nuclear development, advanced reactors and growing demand for reliable, carbon-free baseload power.
Nucleon is building the team and infrastructure required to develop one of the first new Western uranium conversion facilities in decades. As development progresses on our new commercial-scale facility in Wyoming, we’re beginning to build the specialized technical team required to design, commission and operate its fluorine-generation systems.
The Opportunity
Nucleon Energy is seeking a senior engineer or technical specialist with hands-on experience in industrial fluorine generation, HF electrolysis, electrochemical process systems or closely related fluorochemical operations. Direct experience designing, operating, commissioning or troubleshooting fluorine electrolyzers is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will work alongside Nucleon’s process engineering team and technology partners to support the design and integration of the facility’s fluorine-generation system.
Key Responsibilites
Support the design and integration of the fluorine-generation system, including:
- Electrolyzer cells and HF feed systems
- Electrical and rectifier systems
- Fluorine and hydrogen handling
- Materials selection
- Process controls
- Safety and abatement systems
- Equipment reliability
Working alongside the process engineering team and technology partners, you will also:
- Help establish the design basis and equipment specifications.
- Evaluate technologies and vendors.
- Participate in process safety and design reviews.
- Help develop the facility’s commissioning, operating and maintenance strategy.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring experience in:
- Industrial fluorine generation or fluorochemical processing
- HF electrolysis and electrochemical cell design or operation
- Fluorine and anhydrous HF handling systems
- High-current DC power and rectifier systems
- Materials selection and corrosion in aggressive fluorine/HF service
- Process safety, HAZOP/PHA and hazardous gas containment and abatement
- Equipment commissioning, troubleshooting and plant operations
Experience in uranium conversion, nuclear fuel-cycle facilities, industrial gases, specialty chemicals or other highly regulated chemical-processing environments would be particularly valuable.
