In this newly created role, the Vice President, Commercial will be responsible for driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic client acquisition across Canada. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President, Commercial will lead the organization’s sales and growth strategy, develop high-value client relationships, and position the company as a trusted workforce solutions partner.
The successful candidate will have 10+ years of progressive business development experience including 5+ years selling staffing, recruitment, managed services, or workforce solutions, to mid-market and enterprise organizations. This role requires a highly commercial leader who can build strategic partnerships, and deliver sustainable revenue growth while collaborating closely with operations and recruitment teams. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader who thrives on building teams and processes from the ground up, with the adaptability and resilience to navigate ambiguity and fast-evolving markets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Business Unit Head, the Vice President, Commercial will be responsible for:
Strategic Growth & Market Development
- Develop and execute a national business development strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Identify opportunities for expansion within existing markets and new industry sectors.
- Evaluate market trends, labour market dynamics, competitive activity, and emerging workforce solutions opportunities.
- Establish annual and multi-year growth plans, budgets, and revenue targets.
New Business Acquisition
- Lead enterprise-level business development efforts across Canada.
- Generate new client relationships through networking, prospecting, referrals, strategic partnerships, and industry engagement.
- Build relationships with senior executives, HR leaders, procurement professionals, and operational decision-makers.
- Lead contract negotiations and oversee proposal development, RFP responses, and pricing strategies.
Client Relationship Management
- Act as executive sponsor for key accounts.
- Collaborate with operations and recruiting teams to ensure exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities to expand service offerings within existing accounts.
- Conduct executive and or quarterly business reviews and strategic planning sessions with clients.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop the business development team.
- Establish performance standards, sales processes, and accountability measures.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, client focus, innovation, and results.
- Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Revenue & Performance Management
- Own revenue growth, gross margin, and profitability targets.
- Develop accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reporting.
- Monitor business development KPIs and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Identify an appropriate and effective CRM and implement CRM discipline and sales process excellence.
Executive Leadership
- Participate in strategic planning and executive decision-making.
- Provide market intelligence and customer insights to support service innovation.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and HR leadership to achieve organizational goals.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Human Resources, Marketing, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive business development or sales leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role within staffing, recruitment, workforce solutions, HR services, or professional services.
- Demonstrated success selling to mid-market and enterprise organizations across Canada.
- Strong understanding of Canadian labour markets and workforce trends.
- Executive-level selling capability (VP/C-Suite).
- Strategic thinking and market insight.
- Proven track record of building teams and sales operational processes, with the resilience to navigate ambiguity to grow in competitive markets.
- Experience in balancing expansion with a strong focus on bottom-line profitability.
- Excellent presentation and proposal development skills.
- Contract negotiation and commercial acumen.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Team leadership and people management experience.
- Ability to travel 25%, in Canada.
