The role sits within the Capital Markets Middle Office and is primarily focused on collateral management, margin call processing, reconciliations, controls, reporting, and coordination with Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Legal and external counterparties.
Key Candidate Requirements
1. Collateral Management – MUST HAVE
Direct collateral management experience is the most important requirement for this position.
- Minimum 4+ years of relevant collateral management experience is non-negotiable.
- Candidates should have practical, hands-on experience within a collateral/margin operations environment.
- General Middle Office, Credit Risk, or Operations experience without meaningful collateral exposure should not be considered sufficient.
2. Margin Call Experience – MUST HAVE
Candidates must have hands-on margin call experience.
Relevant experience may include:
- Processing and monitoring margin calls
- Margin call notification and confirmation
- Reviewing/validating margin call amounts
- Investigating margin discrepancies
- Managing margin disputes
- Coordinating collateral movements and settlements
- Working with counterparties and internal teams to resolve margin issues
Margin call experience is a hard requirement.
3. Excel Skills – Strong Requirement
Candidates should have good to strong Excel knowledge, particularly:
- Pivot Tables
- Data analysis
- Reconciliations
- Reporting
- Working with large datasets
Advanced Excel is preferred, but the hiring team specifically highlighted Pivot Table knowledge as important.
VBA is beneficial but should not be treated as a stronger requirement than core Excel capability unless otherwise confirmed.
4. Business Process Knowledge
The hiring manager is looking for candidates who understand the end-to-end collateral business process, rather than candidates who have only performed isolated operational tasks.
Candidates should be able to clearly explain:
- How margin calls are generated and processed
- How collateral is validated and moved
- How discrepancies/disputes are identified and resolved
- How reconciliations are performed
- How issues are escalated
- Interaction between Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Risk and counterparties
- The overall lifecycle of a collateral transaction
Ability to explain the process clearly is important.
5. Systems Knowledge
Experience with the exact systems listed in the job description is not necessarily mandatory.
The hiring manager indicated that candidates can be trained on the internal/proprietary systems if they have strong experience with:
- Collateral management systems
- Reconciliation platforms
- Margin management systems
- Other relevant Capital Markets/Middle Office applications
Experience with the specific internal systems such as COMET/DRACCAR, APEX or SFCM is a plus, but transferable collateral/reconciliation systems experience can be considered.
