Title: SAP S/4HANA Upgrade Project Manager
Duration: 6-12 month

Mandate
The SAP S/4HANA Upgrade Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of an enterprise-wide SAP S/4HANA upgrade program. The consultant will be responsible for managing all upgrade phases, from preparation and assessment through testing, cutover, go-live, and post-production stabilization, ensuring alignment with program timelines, governance requirements, and business objectives.
This role will oversee the coordination of SAP functional teams, BASIS resources, system integrators, and business stakeholders to successfully deliver the upgrade while minimizing operational disruption.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end SAP S/4HANA upgrade initiatives.
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Manage RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).
- Ensure compliance with SAP Activate methodology and project governance standards.
- Oversee all upgrade workstreams, including:
- Assessment and preparation
- Sandbox activities
- Development and remediation
- QA and testing
- Cutover planning and execution
- Hypercare and stabilization
- Coordinate integrated testing, regression testing, performance testing, and validation activities.
- Manage upgrade-related dependencies across SAP modules and integrated systems.
- Oversee change control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate activities with SAP consultants, BASIS teams, integration teams, system integrators, and third-party vendors.
- Provide project status reporting, risk reporting, and executive-level project updates.
- Manage cutover planning, production deployment, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Ensure project deliverables meet governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
Required Skills :
- 10+ years of SAP Project Management experience.
- Proven experience leading SAP S/4HANA upgrade projects from planning through production deployment.
- Experience delivering upgrades from earlier SAP S/4HANA releases to newer versions (2023 or later preferred).
- Strong knowledge of SAP Activate methodology.
- Experience managing SAP upgrade lifecycles including:
- Sandbox environments
- Development environments
- Quality Assurance environments
- Production cutovers
- Experience managing large-scale integrated testing and regression testing efforts.
- Strong understanding of SAP landscape architecture and upgrade processes.
- Experience coordinating SAP BASIS activities during upgrades.
- Experience managing SAP integrations and cross-system dependencies.
- Experience within Manufacturing and Supply Chain environments.
- Experience managing global or multi-vendor SAP programs.
- Experience with custom code remediation and upgrade impact assessments.
- Knowledge of SAP governance, release management, and change control processes.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent Project Management certification.
