Position Overview
ProxyLink is looking for a Senior Automation Developer to join an enterprise technology environment and play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing automated testing solutions for complex applications and systems.
This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced automation professional who can work across the full testing lifecycle, identify opportunities for automation, build robust automated test solutions, execute functional and non-functional testing, and collaborate closely with QA, development, business, and technical teams.
The successful candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Playwright, test automation development, ReadyAPI/Postman, JMeter, DevOps, Agile methodologies, and enterprise-level testing.
Position Overview
The Senior Automation Developer will be responsible for developing and executing automated testing solutions that improve software quality, testing efficiency, reliability, and delivery timelines.
You will work closely with QA analysts, software developers, business analysts, project teams, and other stakeholders to understand application requirements, identify automation opportunities, design appropriate testing approaches, and implement automated test frameworks and scripts.
The role involves testing applications across GUI and non-GUI environments and supporting a broad range of testing activities, including functional, integration, regression, API, performance, load, system, accessibility, and user acceptance testing.
The successful candidate will also contribute to testing strategies, test planning, defect investigation, test reporting, and continuous improvement of QA and DevOps processes.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation Development
- Identify opportunities to automate software testing and quality assurance processes.
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts and test suites.
- Develop scalable and maintainable automation frameworks and solutions.
- Use Microsoft Playwright to develop and execute automated application tests.
- Develop automated tests for web-based and enterprise applications.
- Implement automated regression testing to improve test coverage and reduce manual testing effort.
- Develop automated API tests using ReadyAPI, Postman, or similar tools.
- Integrate automated tests into DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain and enhance existing automated test suites as applications evolve.
- Identify areas where automation can improve workflow, quality, efficiency, and delivery.
- Establish appropriate automation approaches based on application architecture, testing requirements, and project objectives.
QA & Testing
- Develop and execute functional, integration, system, regression, and non-functional tests.
- Plan and organize testing efforts for large and complex enterprise systems.
- Support testing across both GUI and non-GUI environments.
- Develop test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, test data, and test documentation.
- Create, review, and execute test strategies and test plans.
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
- Validate application functionality against business and technical requirements.
- Investigate issues identified through automated and manual testing.
- Reproduce defects and work with developers and QA analysts to identify root causes and appropriate solutions.
- Document defects and quality issues clearly and accurately.
- Support defect triage, prioritization, troubleshooting, and resolution.
- Provide organized and repeatable automated testing to support development and implementation efforts.
API & Integration Testing
- Design and execute automated API testing solutions.
- Use ReadyAPI and/or Postman for API and web-services testing.
- Validate API responses, data integrity, business rules, and system integrations.
- Test integrations between applications, services, databases, and external systems.
- Support testing of REST and other web services.
- Investigate integration failures and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
Performance Testing
- Develop and execute performance, load, and stress testing.
- Use JMeter to create and execute performance test scripts.
- Analyze performance results and identify potential system bottlenecks.
- Support performance testing for applications, databases, systems, networks, and related infrastructure.
- Assess application performance under expected and increased workloads.
- Document performance results and communicate findings to technical and project stakeholders.
DevOps & Cloud
- Work within DevOps and Agile environments to integrate automation into software delivery processes.
- Support automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to improve continuous testing practices.
- Work with cloud-based environments, particularly Microsoft Azure.
- Understand version control, build processes, deployment processes, and automated testing within modern development environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of automation and software delivery processes.
Accessibility Testing
- Support Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance testing.
- Conduct accessibility testing and identify accessibility issues within applications.
- Support compliance audits and remediation activities.
- Experience with accessibility testing tools such as Axe and WAVE is highly desirable.
- Work with technical and business teams to ensure accessibility requirements are incorporated into testing activities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with QA analysts, software developers, business analysts, project managers, and technical leads.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business processes and determine how automation can improve workflows.
- Gather and document requirements from end users and stakeholders.
- Translate functional and technical requirements into effective automation solutions.
- Provide recommendations regarding testing strategies, test plans, testing tools, automation frameworks, and required resources.
- Clearly communicate testing results, issues, risks, and recommendations to project stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships across technical and functional teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Must-Have Requirements
Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience in the following areas:
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Playwright, particularly within a DevOps environment.
- Extensive experience in Test Automation Development.
- Extensive experience with ReadyAPI and/or Postman.
- Experience developing and executing automated API tests.
- Experience using JMeter for performance testing.
- Strong understanding of automated testing methodologies and frameworks.
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments.
- Strong understanding of the software development and testing life cycles.
- Experience designing and executing automated QA tests.
- Experience identifying and documenting software defects and quality issues.
- Experience executing functional, integration, regression, system, and non-functional testing.
- Experience planning, organizing, and implementing testing efforts for large and complex systems.
