Software Engineering Manager (100% On-Site in Mississauga, ON)
I am partnering with a premier leader in the manufacturing sector to find a senior, hands-on Software Engineering Manager (Player-Coach).
Our client is a stable, rapidly expanding organization with a growing, largely "greenfield" technical environment. This is a vital role where you can build high-impact solutions from the ground up within a collaborative, supportive team culture.
💼 Role Overview & Impact
This is a "player-coach" position. You will lead a small, talented development team while remaining deeply involved in full-stack coding. You will partner directly with operations, engineering, and business stakeholders to design and deliver enterprise applications that drive manufacturing and business systems.
- Location: Mississauga, ON (100% On-site, 5 days/week)
- Travel: Occasional travel to offices in Brampton and Windsor.
- Compensation: $110,000 – $160,000 CAD (based on experience) + up to 20% annual performance-based bonus.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Mentorship: Lead daily development activities, conduct code reviews, and foster a high-performing engineering culture.
- Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain robust web applications using C#, .NET Core, and React/Next.js.
- Database & Cloud Management: Optimize SQL Server databases and manage cloud integrations using Azure (Logic Apps, Data Factory).
- AI/ML Integration: Utilize AI/ML technologies for data modeling and visualization to create intelligent, data-driven solutions.
- Agile Advocacy: Lead Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) to ensure continuous, iterative delivery.
📋 Requirements & Must-Haves
- Experience: 10+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 3+ years in a hands-on technical leadership or managerial role.
- Backend & Frontend: Advanced expertise in C# / .NET Core paired with strong proficiency in React.js and Next.js.
- Data & Cloud: Strong expertise in SQL Server (T-SQL, performance tuning) and professional experience with Azure.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience.
🏭 Industry Experience (Highly Preferred, Not Required)
- Manufacturing Experience:
A background within a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly preferred for this role. If you have knowledge of MS Dynamics GP, Foy Systems EPICS, or shop-floor integrations, you will be at a distinct advantage.
However, if you are a phenomenal, hands-on Software Engineering Manager from another fast-paced, complex industry, we still strongly encourage you to apply!
🌟 Plus Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
- Hands-on experience with DevOps pipelines (Azure DevOps) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/Terraform).
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or microservices architecture.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ScrumMaster).
