Social Studies Focus
October 13, 2026 to June 30, 2027
Temporary position replacing a leave of absence.
The Coordinator - Learning Services position will provide both leadership and support as part of a collaborative team. This position is responsible for guiding the implementation of social studies curricula, supporting educators in effective planning, instruction, and assessment, and ensuring access to high-quality resources.
Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing District leadership for the implementation of the new Social Studies grade 7-9 curricula
- Supporting District staff in planning, instruction, assessment, and accessing resources for Social Studies courses
- Using data to identify areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement in district and school results in Social Studies
- Coordinating and/or leading professional development experiences for staff
- Collaboration with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Learning Services to infuse Indigenous connections and culture with the Social Studies curricula
Desirable Qualifications
- Strong instructional leadership capabilities
- Successful teaching experience in grades 7-9 Social Studies will be considered an asset
- Experience and interest in working collaboratively with colleagues to improve learning outcomes
- Knowledge and experience in using artificial intelligence, Brightspace, and other technologies to support teaching and assessment of Social Studies curricula
