About the Opportunity
Our client, a highly regarded national law firm, is seeking a Labour and Employment Lawyer (3+ years post-call) to join its practice in Toronto. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer looking to work on sophisticated employment and labour matters while developing strong client relationships and gaining meaningful file responsibility in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise employer clients on a broad range of labour and employment law matters, including employment agreements, workplace policies, terminations, accommodations, human rights issues, workplace investigations, and employment standards compliance.
- Represent clients in employment-related disputes, mediations, negotiations, labour arbitrations, tribunal proceedings, and litigation matters.
- Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documentation.
- Provide practical, strategic, and business-focused advice tailored to client needs.
- Manage files independently while collaborating with partners and other members of the practice group.
- Assist with client development initiatives and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- 3+ years of labour and employment law experience.
- Experience advising employer-side clients on a variety of workplace issues.
- Strong advocacy, negotiation, drafting, and legal research skills.
- Experience handling employment disputes, workplace investigations, labour arbitrations, and human rights matters is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong work ethic, sound judgment, and commitment to client service.
