Our client, a well-established and highly respected Canadian labour law firm with over 50 years of experience, is seeking a Legal Assistant to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and legal support to two to three lawyers
- Schedule meetings, hearings, conference calls, and other appointments
- Manage lawyer calendars and track critical dates and deadlines
- Manage internal and external correspondence and client inquiries
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic files
- Prepare, edit, and proofread correspondence and legal documents
- Complete court, tribunal, and administrative forms
- Arrange for the service and filing of legal documents with courts, tribunals, and opposing counsel
- Prepare summonses and coordinate service with process servers
- Assist with general administrative duties and provide coverage for colleagues as required
- Track CPD accreditation requirements and deadlines
Requirements
- 3+ years of Legal Administrative Assistant experience
- Labour and employment law experience is considered an asset
- Post-secondary education in legal administration or equivalent experience
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
Compensation
- Salary up to $75,000, commensurate with experience
- Hybrid remote schedule – 3 days per week in the office
