Role Description The Kinesiologist is a full-time, on-site role based in London, ON, responsible for supporting the physical health, mobility, and functional independence of residents. Day-to-day tasks include assessing residents’ physical abilities, developing individualized exercise and movement programs, and leading group and one-to-one fitness or mobility sessions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. The Kinesiologist monitors progress, adjusts programs as needed, and documents assessments and interventions in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies. This role also involves educating residents, families, and team members on safe movement, fall prevention, and healthy active living, while promoting engagement and quality of life. The Kinesiologist participates in care conferences and contributes to initiatives that enhance wellness and community within the Village.
Qualifications
- Applied kinesiology and exercise prescription skills, including experience developing individualized and group movement programs for older adults.
- Assessment and evaluation abilities in mobility, balance, strength, and functional capacity, with attention to safety and risk reduction.
- Knowledge of senior care, rehabilitation principles, fall prevention strategies, and best practices in long-term care and retirement settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating within an interdisciplinary team and supporting residents and families.
- Organizational and documentation skills to manage caseloads, maintain accurate records, and follow regulatory and organizational standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or a related field; registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional association is an asset.
- Experience working with older adults or in long-term care, retirement, or community health environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site, adapt to changing resident needs, and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and person-centered culture.
