SMS Equipment is looking for a Project Planner to support our Service, Parts, and Administration teams. This role works closely with customers and internal teams to plan upcoming component requirements, coordinate project activities, and ensure operational needs are supported effectively.
Work Location: Elkford, BC.
Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 per annum.
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site – working from the office or customer site each day.
Schedule: Monday to Friday.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with the service team to collect information supporting short-term and long-term equipment and project planning.
- Collaborate with Service and Parts teams, as well as internal and external project planners, to create and maintain project tracking workbooks.
- Create and maintain tool and filter lists, supporting documentation, and project-related records.
- Download unit-specific documentation from OEM websites as required.
- Work with customers to establish and maintain positive communication regarding planning schedules and upcoming parts and component requirements.
- Create Gantt charts based on estimated project timelines.
- Compile, organize, and retain completed project data for future reference.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings and complete assigned action items.
- Collaborate with the team to identify project risks and support the development of mitigation strategies and solutions.
- Communicate upcoming requirements to inventory support personnel and Component Analysts.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and business partners to support scheduling and project alignment.
- Develop and maintain component planning and forecasting strategies for equipment models supported within the region.
- Request equipment repair costing information and proposals from key business partners and equipment suppliers.
- Provide coverage for other team members as required.
- Complete other duties and project assignments as requested.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will bring 2 to 3 years of experience in an administrative role, along with strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and complete projects. Experience in the mining or heavy equipment industry is considered an asset.
Other requirements include:
- Experience with project planning and scheduling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project is considered an asset.
- Excellent computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to create and maintain project trackers, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, business partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
