Brief Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an
Electrical Designer / Drafter within our Engineering Team in our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Consulting Engineer, the successful candidate will be accountable for creating exceptional client experiences by creating and designing electrical and controls drawings that support the team in the various areas of electrical consulting services. The team provides electrical consulting services for a variety of projects including water and wastewater projects, land development, Utility distribution upgrades, electrical studies, lighting designs, and protection coordination.
Accountabilities - Prepare detailed drawings using Autodesk Software package including:
- AutoCAD
- Plant3D
- MEP
- Electrical
- Provide technical support to Engineers and Project Managers.Preparation of work packages for teams and clients
- Build and maintain exceptional client and vendor relationships to enable successful project execution
- Coordinate and arrange for repairs, inspections and approvals of Construction Completion Certificates as required
- Provide drafting, design, and coordination within engineering department
- Attend on site construction meetings, document meeting minutes, and provide support to Project Managers during construction and commissioning phases of assigned work
- Attend Industry Events, interface with clients with business development intent
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering Degree or similar qualification of a technical institute in electrical systems
- 2 years’ experience professional training in drafting
- Proficiency with Autodesk
- Strong business acumen and relationship building skills
- Proficient computer experience in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong problem solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work in a dynamic work environment
- Excellent time management skills with a strong attention to detail
- Professional team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Any of the following skills would be considered an asset:
- Proficiency with AGI32 or similar lighting design packages would be an asset
- Experience with electrical system testing/commissioning
- Experience with protection relays and associated software
- Experience with ETAP, SKM or EASYPOWER software
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, SAG10 or Overhead Design software would be an asset
- Experience with Controls and Instrumentation Design and/or Installation
- Experience with Programming PLCs and or DCSs
