As a Reclamation/Revegetation Advisor, you will play a key role in planning, executing, monitoring, and improving reclamation across Suncor’s mining and in-situ assets. Working with environmental scientists, engineers, and regulatory specialists, you will help ensure compliance, optimize processes, and advance strong reclamation outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals passionate about ecological restoration, native plant propagation, and sustainable land management.

Minimum Requirements:
- BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Forestry, Agronomy, Ecology, Botany, or related field
- 2 years of relevant experience
- Experience with plant identification (especially in northern Alberta)
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote locations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites
- Professional designation eligibility is required (P. Ag, P. Biol, RPF or equivalent)
- Experience with seed collection, and/or greenhouse operations would be an asset
- Knowledge of boreal forest ecosystems and/or forest successional dynamics would be an asset
- Previous experience in oil sands reclamation or industrial environments would be an asset

Responsibilities:
- Assess land to be revegetated, build prescriptions and plans for revegetation in collaboration with the senior plant specialist.
- Assist with the planning and execution of native seed/cuttings collection, including field identification, contractor supervision, harvesting, and legal documentation of local plant species
- Support planning and coordination for native plant propagation, including communication with suppliers and tracking inventory
- Support coordination of the tree and shrub planting logistics, ensuring proper execution and species selection for reclamation sites
- Conduct field surveys to assess vegetation establishment and support adaptive management
- Collaborate with water resource and geotechnical engineers to incorporate vegetation (bioengineering) into reclamation and closure drainage designs
- Lead the reclamation monitoring program with a focus on plant community development toward end land use objectives (including Traditional Land Use)
- Maintain accurate records of seed sources, planting locations, and survival rates
- Collaborate with senior vegetation specialists, reclamation coordinators, and other team members
Location and other key details:
- You will work out of the Syncrude Mildred Lake location in Fort McMurray
- If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
