Purpose of the Role:
As a Structured Material Industrialization Co-op, you will support Svante’s structured material industrialization teams across product industrialization, strategic materials management, laboratory operations, safety stewardship, and operational improvement initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the release of structured material components and specifications, regulatory and material management activities, chemical and sample management, and the implementation of laboratory safety and organizational improvements. This hands-on role will also provide exposure to product development, sustainability, supply chain, intellectual property, and manufacturing processes while contributing to technical documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Energy, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Strong interest in product industrialization, materials management, product sustainability, laboratory operations, safety stewardship, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of chemical safety and laboratory practices, with the ability and willingness to work hands-on with chemicals, samples, laboratory supplies, and related processes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to data quality and accurate documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across structured materials, sorbent development, Health & Safety, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams.
What Success Looks Like in This Role:
- Support the industrialization of structured material products by coordinating component specifications, documentation, stakeholder feedback, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to operational and laboratory safety improvements by identifying opportunities, developing practical processes, and supporting their hands-on implementation across facilities.
- Effectively manage and maintain chemical, sample, laboratory supply, and project data while supporting inventory audits, incoming chemical processing, waste management, and sample management activities.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide organized technical, administrative, and documentation support for materials, IP, sustainability, safety, and industrialization initiatives.
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements related to data, documentation, equipment, chemicals, and laboratory operations, contributing to Svante’s Lean culture and the successful maturation and delivery of products.
Bonus Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with databases, programming, and data organization is an asset.
- Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems such as Windchill and exposure to product design and engineering processes.
- Understanding of manufacturing, supply chain management, circular economy principles, product sustainability, and methods for reducing waste.
- Experience interpreting, summarizing, and communicating complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Hands-on, proactive, and results-driven approach with a willingness to learn, take ownership, and contribute ideas in a fast-paced team environment.
