About the Role
SYMY Recruitment is conducting this search on behalf of a client. The Respirologist is responsible for providing expert care to patients with respiratory and pulmonary conditions. This includes diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pneumonia, lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, and other acute or chronic lung infections or diseases. The role involves inpatients only, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and participation in research and education.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with respiratory symptoms.
- Order and/or interpret diagnostic tests such as chest X-rays, CT scans, pulmonary function tests, and bronchoscopy.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications and therapies including inhalers, oxygen therapy, and drug therapies.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments as necessary.
- Order PFT tests, stress test echocardiograms, and sleep studies within the clinic.
- Manage patients on CPAP and Bilevel therapy.
- Work closely with primary care physicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other specialists.
- Participate in multidisciplinary and case discussions.
- Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
- Participate in clinic committees and quality improvement initiatives for accreditation.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent).
- Completion of residency in Internal Medicine and/or Pulmonary Medicine.
- Fellowship training in Pulmonary Medicine.
- Board certification in Respirology/Pulmonology.
- European and/or American board certification in Sleep Medicine.
- Licensure to practice medicine in the relevant jurisdiction - CPSA approved.
