About The Role
Our client, an established general contractor with a strong presence in the Manitoba construction market, is seeking an experienced
Regional Construction Manager to join its Winnipeg team.
This is a senior operational leadership position responsible for the performance of multiple active construction projects. Working across project management, field operations, safety, finance, and organizational leadership, the successful candidate will ensure projects are properly staffed, effectively managed, and delivered in accordance with financial, scheduling, quality, and safety expectations.
The Opportunity
The
Regional Construction Manager will provide oversight from the transition out of preconstruction through project completion and closeout. This individual will support project teams, monitor portfolio performance, strengthen operating practices, and help remove obstacles that could affect successful delivery.
The position is well suited to a collaborative construction leader who understands both the technical and commercial sides of the business and can bring consistency, accountability, and sound decision-making to a growing project portfolio.
Regional Construction Manager Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide direction and oversight across a portfolio of active construction projects.
- Translate broader business objectives into practical operating priorities for project teams.
- Establish consistent project-delivery practices that improve efficiency, accountability, and profitability.
- Monitor operational results and identify areas requiring intervention, additional support, or escalation.
- Encourage a culture centred on continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
Project Performance
- Evaluate project performance against schedule, budget, safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Lead regular project reviews focused on forecasting, cost performance, productivity, risk, and overall project health.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to resolve challenges and maintain delivery commitments.
- Ensure reporting, forecasting, cost information, and project documentation remain timely and accurate.
- Identify emerging risks and support the implementation of appropriate corrective measures.
Financial Management
- Review project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, cost reports, and profitability.
- Support project teams in maintaining effective cost controls and reliable financial projections.
- Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs, improve productivity, and strengthen operating margins.
- Provide senior leadership with clear visibility into portfolio performance and areas of concern.
People and Resource Planning
- Coordinate staffing, equipment, subcontractor, and resource requirements across multiple projects.
- Ensure project teams have the experience and support required to execute successfully.
- Participate in workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and employee development.
- Coach and mentor construction leaders while helping strengthen leadership capability throughout the organization.
- Balance competing project priorities and allocate resources according to operational needs.
Safety and Quality
- Champion a proactive health and safety culture across all projects.
- Ensure operations comply with company standards, applicable legislation, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Reinforce quality-control processes that support consistent and successful project outcomes.
- Work with project leaders to address safety, quality, or compliance concerns promptly and effectively.
Industry and Client Relationships
- Develop productive working relationships with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and other industry partners.
- Support client satisfaction and repeat business through strong execution, communication, and relationship management.
- Represent the organization professionally throughout the construction process.
Regional Construction Manager Qualifications & Experience
- At least 10 years of progressive construction management experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and practical experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience leading teams, departments, or multi-project construction operations.
- Demonstrated success overseeing commercial, institutional, or complex building projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, estimating and cost control, quality management, safety practices, and trade coordination.
- Working knowledge of CCDC contracts and standard construction documentation.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, engineered shop drawings, building codes, and technical requirements.
- Experience managing Project Managers, Superintendents, employees, subcontractors, and external project partners.
- Strong financial understanding, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, project risk, and profitability.
- Sound judgment, negotiation skills, and the ability to resolve complex operational issues.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment without compromising safety or quality.
Additional Assets
- Experience delivering healthcare, post-secondary, government, or other institutional projects.
- Experience using Procore or comparable construction-management software.
- Current First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certification.
- Advanced knowledge of construction health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
