The Opportunity:
Our client's facility on the north side of Victoria is a center of excellence for world-class energy management technologies. We are supporting them in a search for an energetic, proactive Junior Lab Technician to join their engineering lab team.
This role is ideal for a recent Electrical Engineering graduate who is eager to learn, highly self-motivated, and excited to support hands-on hardware development. In this role, your primary mission is to keep the engineering test labs operating at peak performance so our design teams can focus on inventing the next generation of power measurement products.

Key Responsibilities
Lab Operations & Maintenance
- Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, stock level of consumables, and general working environment standards.
- Organize and execute calibration schedules for all laboratory test equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on lab tools and equipment.
- Continually identify opportunities to streamline lab processes and improve operational efficiency.
Regression & Compliance Testing
- Set up and run safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) regression tests on power measurement hardware.
- Collect, log, and organize test data accurately.
- Review test results with design engineers, providing clear feedback to support product iterations and troubleshooting.
Product Data Management (PDM)
- Serve as the functional expert in our Product Data Management (PDM) software system over time.
- Manage product release cycles, step through configuration processes, and archive engineering documentation.
- Partner with design engineers to ensure seamless release of hardware assets and engineering changes.
Proactive Team Support
- Maintain a self-directed approach ("stay busy"), actively looking for tasks and operational improvements that add value to the engineering team.
- Assist with ad-hoc technical support, test setups, and lab logistics to maximize engineer productivity.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Technology Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Open to recent grads. Attitude, work ethic, and eagerness to learn are prioritized over industry experience.
- Proactive Mindset: Highly organized and self-directed with a strong work ethic. You anticipate team needs and take initiative without needing daily instruction for small tasks.
- Technical Aptitude: Solid foundational understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and standard lab instrumentation (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies).
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting test data and working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Systems Familiarity: Comfortable learning software tools quickly; prior exposure to PDM/PLM tools or standard lab compliance testing (Safety/EMC) is a bonus, but not required.
