We are looking for a Senior Pharmaceutical Automation Project Manager to lead complex automation projects from concept through commissioning. About the Role
As a Senior Pharmaceutical Automation Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of client automation projects while ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and regulatory requirements are met.
You will work closely with clients, engineers, automation specialists, and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and compliant automation solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pharmaceutical automation projects from concept through commissioning.
- Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and effectively manage client and stakeholder expectations.
- Oversee the design, integration, testing, and validation of automation systems.
- Define project requirements and prepare and review technical documentation.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
- Ensure compliance with GMP/GxP requirements and applicable industry standards.
- Collaborate with clients to optimize manufacturing processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide clear and timely project status updates, performance metrics, and reports.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical and project-related issues.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Project.
- 5+ years of experience with Excel formulas.
- Senior-level experience managing complex automation and technical projects.
- Strong background in industrial or pharmaceutical automation.
- Experience with control system programming, integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management and tracking tools such as MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet, Excel, Power BI, and AI-based tools.
Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is highly valued:
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing processes
- GMP/GxP regulations
- Automation validation and qualification
- Ignition
- Emerson DeltaV
- Rockwell PLC
- MES platforms, including Werum PAS-X and Syncade
- Continuous improvement and manufacturing optimization
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP or other professional project management certification.
- ISA or other automation-related certification.
- Member of the Order of Engineers.
- French is an asset; English is required.
