About You:
This Procurement Manager, Packaging & Indirect role is designed to provide strategic and operational leadership across Crump Group’s packaging materials and indirect spend categories. The role combines category strategy development, strategic sourcing, supplier management, inventory planning, purchasing execution, and continuous improvement to support operational excellence and business growth.
You are a highly collaborative procurement leader who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment and understands how to balance long-term sourcing strategies with the day-to-day realities of running production. You bring strong commercial acumen, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to build strong partnerships across suppliers and internal stakeholders. This role serves as a key leader within the Supply Chain team and plays an important role in strengthening procurement practices, supplier performance, and supply chain resilience across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across packaging and indirect procurement categories, including supplier evaluations, RFQs, contract negotiations, and supplier selection activities.
- Manage key procurement categories such as packaging, corrugate, labels, MRO, logistics services, capital project support, and other indirect spend while driving supplier segmentation, contract management, and supplier development initiatives.
- Identify and implement cost reduction, standardization, process improvement, and value creation opportunities across assigned categories.
- Oversee daily procurement operations, including MRP-driven purchasing, inventory management, purchase order execution, and the timely procurement of packaging materials, goods, and services.
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Logistics, Warehousing, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Quality, and Commercial teams to ensure material availability, support business objectives, and maintain operational continuity.
- Monitor supplier commitments, open purchase orders, inventory positions, and supply risks while developing contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply.
- Manage inventory strategies, replenishment parameters, safety stock levels, and inventory performance metrics to balance customer service, supply continuity, and working capital objectives while supporting S&OP and supply planning processes.
- Measure and improve supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and service metrics through supplier business reviews, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead procurement improvement initiatives focused on supplier performance, spend visibility, inventory optimization, process standardization, and data-driven decision-making.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to procurement and planning team members while supporting the development of scalable procurement processes that enable long-term business success.
Recipe For Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. Certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, or APICS are highly preferred.
- 6-10 years of procurement, sourcing, planning, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience managing packaging procurement and indirect spend categories.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, inventory management, and MRP/ERP systems (Sage X3 preferred).
- Proven expertise in supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, and cost analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and operate effectively in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
