Role Purpose
The role is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting activities for manufacturing or construction operations. This role ensures accurate cost accounting, inventory and WIP valuation, job costing, margin analysis, and compliance with accounting standards, while maintaining strong internal controls. The Divisional Controller partners closely with operations to support profitability, cost control, and informed decision‑making.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Lead and manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Analyze financial results against budget and prior year performance, identifying key trends and variances.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, corporate policies, and internal controls.
- Prepare and present monthly financial review packages and operational performance reports.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts.
- Develop revenue, gross margin, labor, overhead, and equipment budgets.
- Partner with operational leaders to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitor forecast accuracy and support continuous improvement in planning processes.
Operational Business Partnering
- Collaborate closely with operations teams to understand business performance and challenges.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to improve productivity, profitability, and cost management.
- Support strategic decisions related to pricing, investments, and operational improvements.
Inventory & Cost Management
- Oversee inventory valuation, inventory controls, and variance analysis.
- Monitor inventory levels, turnover, and accuracy.
- Support pricing strategy reviews and evaluate the financial impact of pricing decisions, rebates, and promotions.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or actively pursuing designation.
- 8+ years of experience in a Controller role.
- Experience within the construction and/or manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, inventory, and cost accounting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and business partnering skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to division and project locations.
Compensation Data
The salary range for this role is $114,800 to $164,000
