Role Description The Line Cook role is a full-time, on-site position based at The Rec Room in Vancouver, BC. The Line Cook prepares and cooks menu items to company standards, ensuring consistency, quality, and timely service during busy shifts. Responsibilities include setting up and stocking stations, following recipes and portion controls, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines. The role also involves coordinating with other kitchen team members, supporting prep work, and assisting with inventory and waste reduction. Line Cooks contribute to a positive guest experience by helping deliver well-executed dishes that match The Rec Room’s energetic, fun atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Professional cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant or similar environment, with strong skills in basic culinary techniques and station management.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and workplace health and safety standards, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food.
- Ability to follow recipes, portion controls, and plating standards accurately while maintaining speed and quality during peak service times.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to stay organized and calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by an entertainment-focused venue.
- Experience in high-volume or entertainment/hospitality venues is an asset; culinary training or certification is considered an advantage.
