Position Overview
We are seeking a Category Manager who is passionate about medical products to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing and optimizing strategic products within our medical supply and equipment portfolio. The Category Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure that our product offering meets market demands, supports business objectives, and delivers cost-effective solutions to our Canadian customers.
Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager and working closely with the VP of Marketing, you will contribute to and execute our strategic product offering plans, manage vendor relationships, support new product launches, and handle disruptions. You will play a key role in improving our company profitability and ensuring we have the latest product innovation – overall helping us deliver the best possible value to our customers.
Responsibilities
· Manage new and existing vendor relationships.
· Review product offering by class of trade and define gaps and opportunities.
· Analyze profitability by vendor partner and look for opportunities to optimize margins.
· Stay informed of new products available in the market that deliver improved value for our customers.
· Work closely with supply chain and sales to manage product rationalization and aging inventory.
· Develop and maintain a product guide that gives strategic direction to our sales representatives.
· Lead Quarterly Business Reviews with key vendor partners.
· Collaborate with marketing team on campaigns and promotions, recommending products and vendors of focus.
· Manage product disruptions that come in from vendors, work with marketing team on disruption reporting, dashboard updates, and communication of these disruptions to the sales team.
· Provide insight to Sr Marketing Manager on featured vendors and products to be highlighted across all marketing channels.
Note: Occasional travel required for in-person vendor meetings and industry tradeshow events.
Qualifications Required:
- Undergraduate degree or college diploma in Marketing, Business, or related field.
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience, working with medical products.
- Analytical and data skills: able to dig through data independently and draw helpful insights and/or conclusions.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills to proactively deal with rapidly changing market conditions.
- Structured approach and communication style: ability to clearly and persuasively communicate with stakeholders.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Team player with ability to adapt and align with changes in strategy.
- Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Power BI.
- Bonus: Strategic sourcing experience; comfortable managing negotiations with vendors.
