TMU welcomes those who have demonstrated a commitment to upholding the values of equity, diversity, and inclusion and will assist us in realizing the benefits of embedding these values into the work at every level and in every unit of the university. In addition, to correct the conditions of disadvantage in employment in Canada and to bring lived experiences to the work, we encourage applications from members of equity deserving groups that have been historically disadvantaged and marginalized, including First Nations, Métis and Inuit Peoples in Canada, First Nations Peoples in the United States, racialized people, Black people, persons with disabilities, women, and 2SLGBTQ+ people. Preference will be given to candidates with lived experiences as people from equity deserving groups, as well as experience working with these communities with which the University works every day. Please note that all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply and we welcome newcomers and immigrants to Canada.
In April 2022, the university announced its new name of Toronto Metropolitan University. Learn more about our next chapter.
About The HR Team
We are a team of human resources experts and innovators who contribute to the achievement of TMU's strategic priorities. We partner with our clients to create and deliver outstanding practical and strategic human resource solutions, processes and services that enhance workplace culture, engagement and inclusion. We have embarked on a journey to reimagine HR, as well as modernize and enhance the employee experience.
The Opportunity
What helps a busy HR leadership team turn priorities into progress? Often, it’s the person behind the scenes making sure everything and everyone has what they need to move forward.
As the
Operations and Project Specialist in the Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you’ll provide the coordination, organization and day-to-day support that keeps the Office moving and helps TMU’s Human Resources team deliver on its priorities.
Working closely with the Manager, Projects and Operations, you’ll support a diverse portfolio of projects, initiatives and operational activities across the Office of the CHRO. You’ll bring structure to competing priorities, coordinate administrative processes, track important activities and help ensure that commitments move from plans to completion.
You’ll play an important role in keeping the operational engine of the Office running smoothly. From coordinating meetings and project activities to organizing information, supporting communications and managing administrative requirements, you’ll anticipate needs, follow through on details and help create a seamless experience for the CHRO and HR leadership team.
You’ll also provide budgetary and financial support for the Human Resources portfolio, assisting with departmental and special-project budgets, tracking expenditures and helping ensure that financial information is accurate, organized and available when needed. Your attention to detail and ability to stay on top of multiple priorities will help the team make effective use of its resources.
No two days will necessarily look the same. You may be coordinating a project one day, supporting a budget or financial process the next, and helping resolve an unexpected operational need shortly thereafter. You’ll work across HR and with colleagues throughout the University, building relationships, finding solutions and helping ensure that the right information, resources and support are available at the right time.
Your work may happen behind the scenes, but it creates the conditions for others to do their best work.
By bringing organization, responsiveness and care to the details, you’ll help the Office of the CHRO operate effectively and enable HR leaders to focus on the strategic work that supports TMU’s people and priorities.
If you’re someone who enjoys being the person others can count on, someone who brings order to complexity, takes pride in getting things done, and finds satisfaction in making a team work better, this is an opportunity to become an essential part of the engine behind TMU’s Human Resources leadership.
