Role Description The Cook is a full-time, on-site role based at Tsawwassen Springs in Tsawwassen, BC. This position is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items to established standards, ensuring consistent quality, taste, and presentation. Day-to-day tasks include following recipes, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, managing food storage and rotation, and adhering to health and safety regulations. The Cook collaborates with kitchen and front-of-house team members to support smooth service, responds to special dietary requests where applicable, and helps with inventory, prep work, and closing or opening duties as needed. The role may also contribute to menu improvements and seasonal offerings in line with guest expectations and operational goals.
Qualifications
- Possess strong culinary skills, including experience with food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating in a restaurant or similar environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of kitchen operations, including food safety, sanitation standards, and proper food storage and handling.
- Bring skills in time management, organization, and the ability to work efficiently during high-volume service periods.
- Show effective teamwork and communication abilities to collaborate with chefs, servers, and other staff members.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately while maintaining consistency and quality.
- Adaptability and problem-solving skills to handle changing priorities, special requests, and unexpected situations in the kitchen.
- Prior experience as a cook or line cook in a restaurant, hotel, or resort setting is an asset.
- Food Safe or equivalent food handling certification preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not already held.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
