We are seeking a proactive and technically sharp AWS Developer (not a DevOps) to join a technology team supporting core financial infrastructure at a top-tier Canadian bank.
About the Role
You will design, build, and deploy cloud-native microservices and serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, Node.js, and TypeScript.
Responsibilities
- Serverless Development: Architect and write scalable microservices using Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS Lambda.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Define and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK.
- Event-Driven Systems: Configure resilient message queues and event processing using AWS SQS, managing visibility timeouts, dead-letter queues (DLQs), and single-consumer message delivery mechanics.
- Security & IAM: Apply strict principle-of-least-privilege security using IAM roles, trust policies, and resource-based policies.
- Code Quality & Architecture: Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and enterprise software design patterns.
- DevOps & Delivery: Maintain git workflows, evaluate branch strategies (Merging vs. Rebasing), and manage deployment pipelines.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3 to 7 years of hands-on backend software engineering experience (3–4 years acceptable for exceptional technical candidates).
- Core Languages: Advanced proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and modern JavaScript.
- AWS Expertise: Proven track record building with AWS Lambda, SQS, IAM, and infrastructure deployment via AWS CDK.
- Software Design: Deep understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), asynchronous execution paradigms (Promises vs. async/await), and design patterns.
- Collaboration & Ownership: Strong initiative, proactive problem-solving, and ability to deliver independently within a hybrid banking enterprise environment.
