About the Opportunity
Kimberley Freestyle is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Coach to support athlete development within our Freestyle Ski Program. This role focuses on delivering high-quality training sessions, supporting athlete progression, and contributing to a safe, inclusive, and positive training environment.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the coaching team and club leadership to deliver programming aligned with Freestyle BC standards and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles. This position is ideal for an individual passionate about athlete growth, skill development, and fostering a positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Athlete Development & Coaching- Assist in the delivery of structured on-snow training sessions aligned with seasonal objectives and LTAD principles.
- Provide technical coaching, encouragement, and constructive feedback to athletes.
- Support athlete development through skill instruction, drills, and progression-based training.
- Promote athlete safety and adapt training activities based on weather, terrain, and athlete ability levels.
- Assist with monitoring athlete progress and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Attend competitions and training events to support athletes with warm-ups, course inspection, and performance feedback.
Competition & Program Support
- Support athlete participation in local and regional freestyle competitions.
- Assist with event preparation and athlete readiness.
- Contribute to training and competition planning in collaboration with the coaching team.
- Help reinforce team expectations, sportsmanship, and athlete accountability.
Team Collaboration- Work collaboratively with other coaches, volunteers, and club leadership.
- Participate in coaching meetings, training opportunities, and program planning discussions.
- Maintain open and professional communication with athletes, families, and fellow staff.
- Contribute positively to club culture and athlete experience.
Administration & Compliance- Maintain required coaching certifications and comply with club and Freestyle BC standards.
- Assist with attendance tracking, program communication, and athlete information as needed.
- Follow all club safety policies, SafeSport expectations, and operational procedures.
Equipment & Facility Support- Assist with setup, organization, and care of training equipment and supplies.
- Report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Support safe and respectful use of training facilities and on-hill spaces.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Coaching certification appropriate to Freestyle programs, or willingness to obtain.
- Current SafeSport certification (or ability to obtain prior to start).
- First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.
- Experience working with youth athletes in a sport or recreation environment preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for athlete development and freestyle skiing.

Working Conditions
- Combination of on-hill and off-hill work, including dryland facilities and event coordination.

- Outdoor work in variable winter conditions.
