About the Company:
We are building a next-generation music technology platform designed to reshape how artists, fans, rights holders, and music assets interact inside the digital music economy.
The founding team has already made meaningful impact in the DSP and audio advertising space through VoxtonePro, a pioneering self-serve audio advertising platform for digital streaming environments. That experience now informs a larger and more ambitious music technology venture currently attracting interest across the music industry, venture capital, and strategic partner circles.
This is not a conventional streaming app role. We are building a platform at the intersection of music streaming, fan engagement, rights infrastructure, fintech-style asset participation, royalties, and scalable digital commerce.
We are seeking a serious senior backend leader who can help architect, build, and scale the core technical infrastructure behind the product. This is a founding board role.
The Role:
The Founding Backend Lead - Streaming & FinTech Infrastructure will own and lead the backend systems that power our mobile application, future web application, internal admin tools, API layers, user systems, transaction flows, royalty-related logic, asset participation features, and scalable platform services.
You will work closely with the founder, product leadership, iOS/front-end developers, design teams, and future engineering hires to ensure the platform is secure, scalable, efficient, and commercially ready.
This role is ideal for a senior engineer who wants to move beyond being an employee and become an early technical leader in a venture with category-defining ambitions. This is not your average team, nor your average application.
Key Responsibilities
-Backend Architecture & API Development
-Design, build, and manage the core backend architecture for a high-growth music technology platform.
-Develop secure, scalable APIs that communicate cleanly with iOS/mobile interfaces and future web applications.
-Build backend services supporting user accounts, content access, payments, permissions, creator/admin tools, data flows, analytics, and transaction logic.
-Ensure backend systems are modular, well-documented, testable, and capable of supporting future product expansion.
-Streaming & Platform Infrastructure
-Support backend systems related to music/media access, content delivery, user entitlement, playback permissions, catalog metadata, and platform-level media workflows.
-Work with mobile/front-end teams to ensure app UI, backend logic, and streaming-related features operate with low latency and high reliability.
-Help evaluate and integrate appropriate cloud, database, storage, CDN, media, and security infrastructure.
-FinTech-Style Product Logic
-Help architect backend systems involving user balances, revenue attribution, royalty-style distributions, fractional participation logic, transaction records, payment events, and internal financial reporting.
-Build secure ledger-style logic and auditable backend processes where required.
-Work with legal, finance, and product advisors to ensure technical systems are structured to support compliance-conscious financial workflows.
-Web Application Backend Leadership
-Lead backend planning and implementation for the company’s future web-based application.
-Ensure mobile and web products are powered by a consistent backend architecture.
-Build systems that can support dashboards, admin portals, reporting tools, user account management, and future enterprise-facing functionality.
Security, Scalability & Reliability
-Design backend systems with strong security, privacy, access control, observability, logging, and auditability.
-Establish deployment workflows, monitoring, error handling, testing standards, and performance benchmarks.
-Build infrastructure capable of scaling from beta to commercial launch and beyond.
-Maintain clean documentation so the company is never dependent on one individual’s undocumented knowledge.
-Technical Leadership
-Serve as a founding technical lead for backend systems.
-Maintain disciplined execution around budget, timelines, performance, and security.
Required Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
-Strong professional experience in backend development for complex consumer-facing applications.
Proven experience designing and building scalable APIs for mobile applications, preferably iOS-based products.
-Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, databases, authentication, permissions, payment systems, and production-grade backend environments.
-Experience with streaming, media platforms, marketplace platforms, fintech systems, royalties, payments, digital wallets, ledgers, or transaction-heavy products.
-Strong understanding of security, privacy, data integrity, and scalable system design.
-Ability to build quickly without sacrificing long-term architecture quality.
Preferred Experience
-Experience working on music streaming, video streaming, creator economy, social media, marketplace, fintech, or digital asset platforms.
