Our client, an established manufacturing company in Mississauga, is seeking a General Accountant to join its finance team. This is a hands-on accounting role with primary ownership of the full-cycle Accounts Receivable function, while also supporting month-end close, general accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and able to manage both day-to-day transactional responsibilities and broader accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable, including customer invoicing, cash application, collections, and account reconciliation.
Generate and distribute invoices and manage customer billing portals.
Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
Assist with customer credit reviews and monitor potential bad debt exposure.
Record daily cash receipts and reconcile payments against bank deposits.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for bank, general ledger, and subledger accounts.
Support month-end and year-end close, including accruals and financial statement preparation.
Assist with inventory costing, fixed assets, and commission calculations.
Support variance analysis and financial reporting.
Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and supporting documentation.
Provide documentation and support for external audits.
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and other finance functions as required.
Participate in process improvements, cross-training, and accounting system implementations.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
Previous experience in a General Accountant, AR Accountant, or similar accounting position.
Strong knowledge of Accounts Receivable and general accounting principles.
Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Strong Excel and accounting/ERP system skills.
Manufacturing experience is considered a strong asset.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines independently.

Success in this position means maintaining highly accurate billing, cash application, reconciliations, and journal entries while ensuring invoices are processed promptly. The General Accountant will also play an important role in maintaining healthy receivables, improving month-end close timelines, and supporting accurate and timely financial reporting.
