About the Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mine Survey Technician to join our Engineering team at Eagle River Mine. The primary focus of this position is to provide accurate and timely underground survey services in support of mine development, production, engineering and geology.
The Mine Survey Technician will perform underground survey layouts and pickups, maintain survey control, collect and process spatial data, update mine plans and support production and engineering activities. The position works closely with Engineering, Geology and Operations to ensure accurate information is available for safe and efficient mine execution.

You are a proactive, hands-on survey technician who is comfortable working underground and takes pride in producing accurate, dependable survey information. You understand underground mining practices, work safely and independently in the field, and communicate effectively with Engineering, Geology and Operations in a fast-paced production environment.
Position Responsibilities, Accountabilities and Job Duties
- Perform underground survey layouts and pickups for development, production and mine infrastructure
- Establish, extend, verify and maintain the underground survey control network
- Complete development as-builts and track advance and excavation against design
- Conduct stope, cavity monitoring survey (CMS), raise and other production surveys as required
- Process survey data and maintain accurate Deswik mine plans, drawings and spatial databases
- Calculate development quantities, stope volumes, excavation volumes and other survey measurements
- Provide timely survey information, markups and field support to Engineering, Geology and Operations
- Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot total stations, scanners and other survey equipment
- Support drone, LiDAR, scanning and other spatial-data collection technologies where applicable
- Prepare survey drawings, reports and records; support other Engineering technical activities as required; and ensure all work complies with safety standards and company procedures
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or degree in Mine Engineering Technology, Surveying, Geomatics, Mining Engineering or a related field
- Underground mine surveying experience is preferred
- Proficiency with Deswik or comparable mine planning and survey software is preferred
- Experience using total stations and processing underground survey data is preferred
- Working knowledge of underground mining methods, survey control principles and safe work practices
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in an underground environment and adapt to changing priorities
