About The Role
We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Analyst to join the Data Insights & Analytics team within Customer & Grid Intelligence at Nova Scotia Power. This full-time, permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to transform complex data into actionable insights that directly influence business decisions and operational strategies. As a key member of the team, you will work with diverse data sources, including smart meters, assets, and customer information, to develop dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions that support operational efficiency, data quality, and strategic initiatives. Your role will involve collaborating with various stakeholders to understand business needs, translating them into technical solutions, and communicating findings effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. This position provides a platform to expand your technical expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that impact energy delivery and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, data modeling, or business intelligence
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational databases
- Experience developing dashboards and reports using Tableau
- Knowledge of data transformation, data quality management, and data validation methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends and generate actionable insights
- Experience gathering and interpreting business requirements for data-driven solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with Python, statistical analysis, machine learning concepts, or similar tools (asset)
- Experience working with smart meter technologies, customer information systems, or ITSM processes (asset)
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations that provide meaningful insights to support business decision-making
- Create, update, and enhance reports using large and complex datasets to meet operational and strategic needs
- Analyze data sources, workflows, and business processes to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable recommendations
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of critical business and smart meter data
- Develop and maintain data models, data dictionaries, and data catalogs to improve data accessibility and governance
- Perform data validation, testing, and quality assurance activities to ensure reliable reporting and analytics
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries across multiple data sources to support analysis and reporting
- Partner with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate requirements into effective data solutions
- Create ad hoc reports to address emerging business needs promptly
- Support data transformation activities and contribute to the development of data-driven solutions
- Participate in requirements gathering, data modeling, and workflow development aligned with business processes
- Communicate analytical findings and technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reporting capabilities, business processes, and operational performance
