About The Role
Saturn is seeking a full-time Information Services (IS) Data Analyst based in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting directly to the Team Lead, Business Applications & Data Analytics, the Data Analyst will play a critical role in transforming complex enterprise data into actionable insights. This position is pivotal in supporting operational efficiency, strategic decision-making, and overall business performance. The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization to develop and maintain reporting solutions, ensure data quality, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Saturn's analytics and data platform capabilities. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and strong communication abilities to facilitate data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Data Analytics, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
- 3-7 years of experience in a data analyst, business intelligence, reporting, or analytics role.
- Proven experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and data validation techniques.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with upstream oil and gas industry data and systems such as Qbyte FM, CS Land, Metrix, OpenInvoice, Execute, and WellView.
- Knowledge of production, finance, land, or operations reporting processes.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data reconciliation, and quality analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations to support business insights using Power BI and other reporting tools.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements, understand reporting needs, and deliver actionable insights.
- Design and support self-service analytics solutions that enable users to access trusted and accurate data independently.
- Analyze business performance trends, identify anomalies, and recommend operational improvements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including data dictionaries, metric definitions, and reporting procedures.
- Collect, validate, and analyze data from multiple enterprise systems to support operational, financial, land, and production initiatives.
- Perform ad hoc data analysis to support strategic projects and decision-making processes.
- Identify data quality issues, monitor data integrity, and participate in data governance initiatives to uphold data standards.
- Support data integration efforts, including assisting with data models, semantic layers, and data pipelines.
- Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure seamless data flow and reporting accuracy.
- Build strong relationships with various business units to understand operational priorities and reporting challenges.
- Provide training, support, and guidance to end-users on analytics tools and data interpretation.
- Promote a data-driven culture within the organization by advocating best practices and continuous improvement in analytics capabilities.
