Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Dynamics 365 Architect / Senior Developer for a short-term engagement focused on documenting and modernizing an existing Microsoft Dynamics environment. This role will play a critical part in establishing technical clarity, improving development practices, and creating a scalable foundation for future enhancements. The successful consultant will assess the current ecosystem, reverse engineer existing customizations and integrations, document system architecture and workflows, and implement modern DevOps and CI/CD practices to support ongoing development efforts.
This is an approximately 2-3 month engagement beginning in October, with the potential to transition into a longer-term opportunity based on business needs and performance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and document the current Microsoft Dynamics CRM environment, including customizations, integrations, workflows, plugins, and supporting components.
- Develop a comprehensive system landscape diagram illustrating applications, infrastructure, integrations, dependencies, and data flows.
- Identify and document all upstream and downstream system dependencies impacting the Dynamics platform.
- Reverse engineer existing Dynamics CRM configurations and custom-developed solutions to establish an accurate technical baseline.
- Assess and document the architecture, functionality, and integration points of SymthePort and its interaction with Dynamics CRM.
- Create technical documentation covering system design, business processes, data models, security structures, and integration architecture.
- Evaluate the current software development lifecycle and deployment processes related to Dynamics development.
- Design and implement standardized DevOps practices for Dynamics-related development activities.
- Build and configure CI/CD pipelines to automate solution deployment, validation, and release management.
- Establish source control and branching strategies aligned with Microsoft best practices for Dynamics 365 development.
- Identify architectural gaps, technical debt, and areas for optimization within the existing environment.
- Provide recommendations for future-state architecture, governance, and development standards.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and developers to validate findings and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Create knowledge transfer materials and conduct walkthrough sessions with internal teams.
- Support transition planning to enable future development resources to onboard efficiently.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting Microsoft Dynamics CRM / Dynamics 365 solutions.
- 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical leadership, or enterprise application architecture roles.
- Demonstrated experience reverse engineering undocumented Dynamics environments and legacy enterprise applications.
- Strong expertise with Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE), Power Platform, Dataverse, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Experience designing enterprise system architecture diagrams, data flow documentation, and technical reference materials.
- Proven experience documenting complex application ecosystems with multiple integrations and dependent systems.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Git repositories, and modern CI/CD implementation practices.
- Experience building deployment automation frameworks for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform environments.
- Strong understanding of solution management, environment strategies, release management, and governance best practices.
- Experience working with APIs, web services, integration platforms, and data migration processes.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services and cloud architecture principles.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly understand existing environments.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results in a short-term consulting engagement.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills with experience presenting technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- 8+ years of Microsoft Dynamics CRM / Dynamics 365 architecture and development experience, including enterprise implementations and custom solution design.
- Proven experience reverse engineering and documenting complex, undocumented Dynamics environments, customizations, workflows, integrations, and data models.
- Hands-on Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipeline implementation experience, specifically supporting Dynamics 365 and Power Platform development streams.
