About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our Western Excellence Center AI and Transformation Delivery team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data analytics within a dynamic banking environment. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and operationalizing advanced data science solutions that directly impact client experience, risk management, and operational efficiency. Your expertise will help shape innovative strategies and foster a data-driven culture across the organization. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong technical skills, capable of translating complex business needs into actionable data science projects. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a degree in computer science, engineering, data science, statistics, or a related field, along with 3 to 5 years of experience in delivering production-level analytics or machine learning solutions. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Rust, JavaScript, C, C++, SAS, or R is essential, along with experience working with relational databases. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data wrangling, preprocessing, visualization, and ETL processes, utilizing tools like SAS Viya or equivalent platforms. Practical knowledge of model management, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and modern development environments is required. Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure, and deployment practices is highly desirable. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Frame high-impact analytics and AI projects by collaborating with business partners to clarify needs and translate them into effective data science solutions.
- Design, develop, validate, and deploy machine learning, statistical, and generative AI models, including large language models and retrieval-augmented generation techniques.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model experimentation, presenting insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Implement robust model lifecycle practices, including monitoring, continuous integration and delivery, issue resolution, and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
- Establish and promote best practices, standards, reusable patterns, and comprehensive documentation for models, data lineage, and AI processes.
- Support delivery activities such as planning, testing, troubleshooting, demonstrations, and training to facilitate adoption of new methodologies and tools across teams.
