About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in mining to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams in delivering complex capital projects within the mineral processing and mining sectors. This leadership role involves managing projects throughout their entire lifecycle, from early-stage studies and proposal development to detailed engineering, construction support, and commissioning. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to define project strategies, manage technical and commercial risks, and ensure the achievement of project goals on time and within budget.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing mining and heavy industrial projects, including mineral processing facilities and infrastructure. Familiarity with NI 43-101 technical studies and the ability to act as a Qualified Person (QP) or collaborate with one is essential. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence project outcomes, foster innovation, and contribute to sustainable development initiatives within the mining industry.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering disciplines such as Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or Mining Engineering, complemented by over 15 years of experience in delivering large-scale capital projects in mining or mineral processing. Proven success managing projects with a total installed cost (TIC) of up to $200 million is required. Candidates should have substantial experience supporting or managing technical study phases including Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS). Strong skills in project controls, scheduling (preferably MS Project), budgeting, and risk management are essential. Additionally, familiarity with NI 43-101 technical reports and the ability to work closely with Qualified Persons are highly valued. Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and client locations as needed are also required.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across various engineering disciplines and geographic locations.
- Establish comprehensive project plans, objectives, risk management frameworks, schedules, and deliverables.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget constraints.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to project engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Technical Expertise
- Manage engineering delivery for both greenfield and brownfield mining and mineral processing projects.
- Support technical scopes for various project phases including PEA, PFS, FS, FEED, and detailed engineering.
- Develop scope definitions, cost estimates, and execution strategies during proposal and study phases.
- Ensure all engineering outputs meet quality standards and align with Sacré-Davey’s Quality Management System.
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines to ensure integrated, technically sound project execution.
Stakeholder Communication
- Act as the primary liaison for clients, maintaining strong relationships through clear and consistent communication.
- Present project updates, execution strategies, and technical information to clients and stakeholders.
- Facilitate alignment between engineering teams, project sponsors, and external partners.
- Manage scope changes and client expectations professionally, ensuring transparency and satisfaction.
Compliance and Standards
- Ensure all projects adhere to relevant engineering codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee project phase reviews and incorporate lessons learned into future projects.
- Provide technical oversight for NI 43-101 compliant studies and documentation, where applicable.
- Support technical review processes necessary for Qualified Person sign-off.
Strategic Contributions
- Contribute to business development efforts through proposal preparation, scope definition, and effort estimation.
- Identify opportunities for improving project execution methodologies and enhancing client outcomes.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of Sacré-Davey’s project management practices.
- Support the development of long-term client relationships within the mining sector.
