Welder

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Are you passionate about heavy equipment maintenance and welding? Do you thrive in a fast-paced mining environment where safety, craftsmanship, and teamwork are essential? If you are an experienced Welder who excels in fabrication, equipment repair, and troubleshooting, we want you on our team!
Role Overview
As a Welder, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and availability of mobile mining equipment. You will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, welding, fabrication, and inspection activities on heavy mobile equipment while working closely with the Mobile Maintenance team to support safe and efficient mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs on heavy mobile equipment to maximize reliability and availability.
- Welding & Fabrication: Weld, cut, grind, gouge, fabricate, overhaul, and modify equipment components as required.
- Inspection & Troubleshooting: Conduct inspections, diagnose equipment issues, and identify corrective actions to prevent downtime.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a safe work environment by following company procedures, conducting safety audits, and keeping work areas clean and hazard-free.
- Documentation & Team Support: Complete detailed maintenance reports, support apprentices in skill development, and collaborate with supervisors and maintenance personnel.
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum 3 years of welding experience in an industrial mining environment.
- Proven ability to repair, maintain, weld, and fabricate components for heavy mobile equipment.
- Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman Welder Certification.
- CWB SMAW/GMAW/FCAW certifications considered an asset.
- Experience with carbon arc gouging, overhead cranes, rigging, and industrial welding techniques.
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with underground mobile equipment, line boring, machining, or fabrication is considered an asset.
- Passion for safety, quality workmanship, and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions
- 7-on / 7-off rotation consisting of 10-hour shifts.

Salary Range (hourly): CAD $45.60 - $58.57
The expected salary range for this role is intended to support transparency and informed decision making. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience and internal equity.
