The Hotel Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food for restaurant guests, in-room dining, banquets, meetings, and special events. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by maintaining consistency, food quality, and adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Support food production for the hotel's restaurant, room service, banquets, and catering events.
- Ensure all food products are prepared and served in a timely manner.
- Maintain quality, consistency, and portion control standards.
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and cooking ingredients.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of product shortages.
- Properly receive, label, store, and rotate food products following FIFO procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
- Follow all health, safety, and food handling regulations.
- Assist with banquet and event setup, service, and breakdown as required.
- Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, stewards, and service staff to ensure seamless operations.
- Minimize food waste and contribute to cost control initiatives.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Cook in a hotel, restaurant, banquet, or catering environment preferred.
- Culinary diploma or equivalent training is an asset.
- Valid Food Handler Certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work in a hot and busy kitchen environment.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
