Wireless Network Engineer - packet core 5G/LTE/3G
Brampton, ON - Hybrid (3 Days WFO)
Role Descriptions:
• Subject matter expert with wireless with packet core experience on 5G/LTE/3G technology.
• Support in the preparation and execution of the design, instantiation, integration, and validation of HLD, LLD, IP Flow, MOP, TOL and ATP documentation, along with the implementation & testing for wireless packet core platforms:
• 5G Standalone Core (5GC): AMF, SMF, UPF
• Evolved Packet Core (EPC): MME, PGW, SGW, HSS, ePDG
• Support in the operation, maintenance and daily checks of the packet core nodes as well as troubleshooting, resolving, and escalating any issues within the packet core and packet data services.
• Utilize cloud and virtualization tools to automate workflows, CNF/VNF platform lifecycle management, issue troubleshooting, integration validation, end to end testing, and KPI reporting.
• Serve as the top tier in fault identification, isolation, analysis, and resolution for IP & Access network related technology platforms.
• Engage in performance and fault analysis for issues requiring in-depth, extended investigation.
• Recommend unique approaches to issue resolution, including situation analysis, testing strategies, and fault reproduction.
• Responsible for configuration, management and maintenance of IP & Access network elements and technology platforms.
• Provide expert technology platform support of change control process including impact analysis, method of procedure review, implementation and verification.
• Maintain all related network design and support documentation.
• Design and implement automations across Network Operations using combination of in house and open source development tools.
• Implementing and reviewing network tools/scripts.
• Identify new automation opportunities based on data driven analysis.
• Responsible for ensuring seamless introduction of new technology platforms and services into Enterprise Network Operations.
• Communicate with engineering regarding identified logical and physical network design issues and network performance.
• Must be willing to work in an on-call environment.
• Adhere to all policy and legal requirements under Health and Safety legislation.
Essential Skills:
• Degree or Diploma in Networking or Technology.
• 5+ years experience in Service Provider environment strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of Data analytics and Log parsing into tools: I.e. Splunk, Grafana and others is an asset.
• Innovation/Creative Thinking, Problem Solving/Judgment, Achievement Orientation and Listening, Understanding and Responding.
• Experience with networking: routers/switches/firewalls, routing, subneting and network protocols.
• Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the TCP/IP protocol, specifically relating to the routing of IP packets (OSPF, ISIS, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, MPLS VPN, and Multicasting).
• Experience-based knowledge of Nokia (ALU) Service Router 7750SR, 7210-SaS platforms and services TiMOS/SR OS, 5620 NSP/CPAM, Software. NRS-II+ certification considered an asset.
• Experience-based knowledge of Nokia 7360 XGS-PON & 5520 AMS or other vendor OLT solution.
• In-depth knowledge of Security/DDoS Mitigation systems.
• Lean-Six Sigma, considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, in an organized, methodical and pleasant manner.
• Ability to take ownership and co-ordinate resolution of network related problems.
• Provide expert technology platform support of change control process including impact analysis, method of procedure review, implementation and verification.
