Accounting Lead (Fixed Assets).

Role: Accounting Lead (Fixed Assets)
Location: New Brunswick, Canada (On-site)
Duration: 3+ months
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Lead to direct and manage fixed asset accounting projects and operations. In this role, you will lead end-to-end asset lifecycle processes, serve as the cross-functional liaison between Finance, IT, and Operations, and ensure project deliverables align with accounting policies and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Project & Process Leadership: Direct projects covering the full fixed asset lifecycle, including asset capitalization, transfers, depreciation, disposals, and account reconciliations.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact connecting Finance, Accounting, IT, Operations, and business leadership to drive project alignment and resolve operational roadblocks.
- Project Delivery & Governance: Build and track project schedules, manage cross-team dependencies, document progress, facilitate team meetings, and maintain project governance materials.
- Financial Oversight & Compliance: Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end fixed asset close activities while enforcing strict compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory policies.
- Process Optimization: Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fixed asset systems, reporting workflows, and overall operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a relevant field.
- Experience: Proven track record in fixed asset accounting combined with practical project management experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong command of asset lifecycle accounting standards, capitalization criteria, depreciation methodologies, and financial reporting.
- Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional stakeholder management, project tracking, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
