A Typical Path to a First Officer Position Ideally, 1 year of ground experience before applying to Ground School. Simulator evaluation + interview with the Chief Pilot and HR team. Three weeks of theoretical training in a group of about 10 people. Up to 3 months of in-aircraft training. Expect a 1 to 2 year timeframe before flying as a First Officer on a Pilatus PC-12.
