Temporary Facilities Assistant (Ref. #:2026-051) Sunwest Aviation Ltd. is the leading Western Canadian operator of jet and turboprop charter aircraft. We currently have an opportunity available for a Temporary Facilities Assistant. Reporting to the FBO Manager, this position is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following: Type of Employment: Temporary Location: Calgary Position Shift: various; days, evenings, weekends Salary/Hourly: $22.00 per hour Competition Deadline: 2026-09-15 Date Posted: 2026-09-11 Duties and Responsibilities: Provide courteous and friendly service to all building tenants while maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the facility and grounds. Maintain all aspects of building safety and security systems Ensure all ground walkways, parking lot and Ramp are clear of snow and ice. Ensure shrubs, trees, lawns and flowers are cut, trimmed, watered and fertilized as required. Maintain, program and repair automatic watering systems Perform hangar inspections, Fire Lane walks Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance for the facilities Keep the Facilities Lead / FBO Manager informed when supplies need to be ordered Ensure equipment is properly maintained, including hangar spill kits Ensure propane tanks are always filled Take an active role in project maintenance work and ensure it is completed in a timely fashion Other related duties including, but not limited to, changing garbage; cleaning hangar floors; windows; and all common areas staff lunchroom, coffee areas, washrooms and lobby; and organize and arrange for pick up of all recyclables The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and competencies. In addition personality profiling will be required of all candidates granted an interview for this position. Qualifications, Experience and Competencies: Completion of High School Diploma Completion of vocational or technical training is an asset 1-2 years maintenance experience Sound knowledge of basic carpentry, drywall, painting, electrical, plumbing, etc. is considered an asset Good mechanical aptitude Valid Driver’s licence and abstract is required Forklift, heavy equipment and Man lift certificate is required Skid steer and front end loader experiences is recommended Substance abuse screening is required as per our Safety Management System Positive “Can Do” attitude Excellent trouble shooting and problem-solving abilities Sound decision making skills Able to handle multiple tasks calmly and work under pressure Good communication and customer service skills Strong organizational skills Indoor and Outdoor Environment, Lifting, Walking, Driving company vehicles and heavy equipment Term employment - October 2026 through to April 2027 Sunwest offers a competitive, performance-based salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including dental, extended health, life insurance, AD&D, short-term & long-term disability, an Employee & Family Assistance Program, and Group RRSP plan matching.
