Role Summary
Our client is seeking an Intermediate Web Specialist to support the Ontario Court of Justice (OCJ) Intranet Modernization project. You will collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to design, develop, and implement a new, user-centric WordPress public and internal intranet site serving the judiciary and court staff.
Key Deliverables
- Translate UX/UI wireframes into functional, responsive web components and custom templates.
- Implement websites on a WordPress CMS across production and staging environments using custom code (PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3).
- Create website graphics, navigational components, and research/integrate required plugins.
- Migrate existing web content and ensure strict compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA and Government of Ontario accessibility standards.
- Produce maintenance documentation, web style guides, and provide training for internal IT and business users.
Mandatory Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in enterprise website analysis, development, design, testing, and implementation.
- Web Programming Environments: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, XML, JavaScript, PHP, MDBootStrap, and JavaScript frameworks (Node.js, React, Vue, Angular).
- Open Source Stack: Proven experience with Linux, WordPress (and plugins), Drupal, Apache, Git, and Lucene-based search engines (Solr, Elasticsearch).
- Accessibility: Expertise in accessibility testing, principles, and compliance guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA+ and AODA).
Desired Skills and Experience
- Technical & Cloud Environments: Familiarity with LAMP software stacks, Windows Server (IIS), and Azure Web Services (WordPress-as-a-Service, database-as-a-Service).
- Design & UX/UI: Proficiency in interactive design principles and tools (Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, Zeplin), responsive web design, and usability testing methodologies.
- Information Architecture & Content: Experience driving content strategy, creating metadata templates, mapping content inventories, and producing multi-format content (blogs, graphics, videos).
- Architecture & AI Tools: Knowledge of open-source/cloud architectures, database systems (MySQL, MongoDB), security best practices, and leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate delivery.
- OPS Familiarity: Knowledge of Government of Ontario web standards (Ontario Design System), business planning, and Agile project management platforms (Azure DevOps).
