Manual Machinist who enjoys challenging work, understands the craft behind machining, and takes pride in figuring out how to repair, restore, and manufacture components properly.
Our work is varied. One day you may be machining a component for a hydraulic cylinder repair; the next, you're working with a large industrial part that requires you to think through the setup, determine the best approach, and work to tight tolerances.

What You'll Do
As a Manual Machinist, you'll work on a variety of repair, rebuild, and manufacturing projects involving hydraulic and heavy industrial components.
You'll be responsible for:
- Setting up and operating manual lathes, mills, boring equipment, and other conventional machine tools
- Machining new and repair components to specified dimensions and tolerances
- Working with large and heavy industrial components
- Performing machining associated with hydraulic cylinder repair and rebuilding
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, and work orders
- Determining appropriate setups, tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining sequences
- Measuring and inspecting components throughout the machining process
- Using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
- Working to close tolerances and required surface finishes
- Inspecting existing components to determine wear, damage, and repair requirements
- Troubleshooting machining challenges and determining practical repair solutions
- Working collaboratively with welders, honing machinists, mechanics, and other members of the shop team
- Safely rigging, positioning, and moving components using overhead cranes and material-handling equipment
- Completing required job, production, and inspection documentation
- Performing routine equipment checks and basic preventative maintenance
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Following Bridge Machine's quality and safety standards
What You Bring
We're looking for someone who knows their way around a manual machine and doesn't need every step of a job laid out for them.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- 5+ years of manual machining experience in an industrial, repair, or manufacturing environment
- Strong experience operating manual lathes and mills
- Experience machining large components is a strong asset
- Hydraulic cylinder repair or heavy industrial machining experience is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tolerances, fits, and surface finishes
- Ability to independently plan machining setups and sequences
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Strong competency using precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting ability
- Experience safely using overhead cranes and rigging equipment
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative shop environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
A
Red Seal Machinist certification is an asset, but not required. We recognize that some of the strongest manual machinists have built their expertise through years of hands-on experience.
