THE POSITION
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the advisor is responsible for training, employee development, and workplace health and safety (WH&S), in order to support the HR team during periods of high activity. Self-reliant and versatile, he or she also leads ad hoc HR projects based on the department’s priorities.
Responsabilities
Skills Development
- Support managers in developing individual development plans for their employees.
- Use Success Finder results to guide development goals and facilitate feedback sessions.
- Monitor progress on these plans and document results.
- Contribute to talent development and succession planning initiatives.
Training
- Analyze training needs with managers and develop the annual training plan.
- Coordinate training logistics: vendors, schedules, registrations, rooms, or platforms.
- Design, facilitate, and evaluate training programs to impart skills and knowledge.
- Maintain the training log and ensure compliance with legal requirements, particularly under the Act to Promote Workforce Skills Development and Recognition (the 1% Act).
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and propose improvements.
Workplace health and safety (WHS)
- Maintain and update the prevention program and current WHS documentation.
- Support the health and safety committee: prepare meetings, follow up on issues, and develop action plans.
- Manage accident and incident reports, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Monitor CNESST cases, including temporary assignment and return-to-work procedures.
- Organize mandatory WHS training: first aid, prevention, WHMIS, as needed.
Other projects
- Lead or support HR projects based on priorities: internal policies, surveys, onboarding and integration programs, and management tools.
- Collaborate with the HR team on day-to-day activities during peak periods
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, industrial relations, or related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in human resources, ideally as a generalist advisor.
- Practical experience in training, skills development, and workplace health and safety (WHS).
- CHRP certification is a plus.
- Success Finder certification or experience with psychometric tools is a plus.
Skills
- Good knowledge of the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Act respecting industrial accidents and occupational diseases (Bill 27).
- Knowledge of the obligations related to the 1% training requirement.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
- Excellent command of spoken and written French.
Desired Qualities
- Ability to work independently and quickly get up to speed in a temporary assignment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to advise and support managers.
- Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.
- Team spirit and a collaborative approach.
