Technical Business Systems Analyst / Data BSA
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical and technically capable Business Systems Analyst to join a major Corporate Banking data programme.
This is not a traditional documentation-led Business Analyst position. The successful candidate will combine strong business analysis and stakeholder communication skills with hands-on data capabilities, working directly with Databricks and underlying datasets to investigate requirements, model and profile information, produce proof-of-concept outputs and bridge the gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams.
The programme is focused on developing data products, improving reporting and analytics capabilities, and bringing together data from multiple source systems across Corporate Banking.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with Corporate Banking stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements.
- Investigate existing manual processes and establish how data moves across multiple upstream and downstream systems.
- Identify and validate authoritative data sources rather than relying solely on end-user assumptions.
- Work hands-on within Databricks to ingest, interrogate, profile and model datasets.
- Produce proof-of-concept Databricks notebooks, analysis and reporting/dashboard outputs.
- Apply strong data modelling concepts when defining data products.
- Work with Medallion Architecture and understand the role of Bronze, Silver and Gold data layers.
- Translate complex business problems into clear requirements for development and data engineering teams.
- Work closely with developers and engineers throughout delivery.
- Guide non-technical business stakeholders through solution and requirements discussions.
- Support the creation of scalable data products and improved analytics capabilities.
Essential Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks.
- Strong understanding of data modelling and data products.
- Practical knowledge of Medallion Architecture, including Bronze, Silver and Gold layers.
- Strong data analysis and investigation capability.
- Experience with data ingestion and data profiling.
- Ability to work hands-on with Python, PySpark and/or SQL.
- Ability to work with Databricks notebooks and create proof-of-concept outputs.
- Strong requirements gathering and business analysis capabilities.
- Experience investigating data lineage/source systems and tracing information back to authoritative sources.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to bridge effectively between non-technical business stakeholders and engineering/development teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Desirable Experience
- Financial services / banking experience.
- Corporate Banking or lending experience
- Exposure to syndication, origination or portfolio monitoring.
- Unity Catalog

- Experience preparing or structuring data for AI consumption.
- Azure exposure.
- Python/PySpark development background.
- Previous software/data engineering experience before moving into Business Systems Analysis.
