About the Opportunity
Our client is one of Canada's largest publicly traded infrastructure and construction companies. They deliver major projects across nuclear, civil, utilities, industrial and urban transportation markets. The organization is carrying a record multi-billion dollar backlog and is growing into new geographies and markets, supported by opportunities in power generation, transit, water and defence. Leadership expects double-digit revenue growth this year and further growth next year.
Key Responsibilities:
Debt and Equipment Financing
- Own debt administration and the monthly and quarterly reconciliation of debt and lease records to lender statements, subledgers, SAP and the general ledger. Investigate and resolve variances.
- Maintain accurate records of borrowings, repayments, interest, fees, maturities, and lease additions, modifications and buyouts.
- Partner with the Director, Treasury on equipment financing, including comparing lender proposals, negotiating terms, planning execution and presenting recommendations.
- Coordinate documentation, approvals, funding and closing with internal stakeholders and lenders, and maintain complete post-closing records.
- Prepare debt reporting, supporting schedules, journal entries and accruals, and support drawdowns and repayments under corporate credit facilities.
- Support IFRS 16 schedules and reporting in partnership with the accounting team.
Cash Flow Analysis
- Perform forecast-to-actual cash flow variance analysis, identify key drivers and prepare concise management commentary.
- Review cash position and forecasting outputs, investigate exceptions and validate data quality.
Systems, Controls and Process Improvement
- Play a key business role in the Treasury Management System implementation, covering requirements, data preparation, testing, documentation, training and user adoption.
- Support automation of the cash board, cash forecasting and payment processes while keeping controls strong.
- Identify opportunities to standardize processes, improve reporting and reduce manual effort.
Team and Stakeholder Partnership
- Serve as the primary operational backup to the Treasury Manager, and help guide, cross-train and support junior team members.
- Build trusted relationships with banks, equipment lenders, business units and functions including Accounting, Tax, Legal, Procurement and IT.
What You Bring
- CPA designation (required).
- 5–7 years of experience in corporate treasury, banking, debt or lease administration, accounting, or financial analysis.
- Hands-on experience working with banks, such as credit facilities, term loans, revolvers or financing transactions.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, with a track record of investigating variances, identifying root causes and communicating conclusions.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial models, large data sets, pivot tables and complex formulas.
- Working knowledge of IFRS 16 and lease accounting.
- Experience with SAP or another ERP, gained in a large, complex organization (global preferred).
- A collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across functions and with external partners, and who wants to grow toward future leadership.
