Engineering Manager – CPG Manufacturing
Location: Oshawa, ON
Salary: $130,000–$140,000 base + benefits/bonus
About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading CPG manufacturing company with a fast-paced, highly automated operation in Oshawa, Ontario. They are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead engineering, maintenance, reliability, and capital project initiatives across the facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an engineering professional with strong experience in packaging manufacturing, maintenance, reliability, capital projects, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the site engineering and maintenance strategy, ensuring high equipment reliability, uptime, and operational performance.
- Provide leadership to engineering and maintenance teams, including coaching, development, performance management, and workforce planning.
- Oversee capital projects from concept and budgeting through installation, commissioning, and start-up.
- Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance and reliability programs.
- Drive improvements in equipment reliability, OEE, productivity, safety, quality, and cost.
- Partner closely with Production, Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, and Finance to support plant objectives.
- Lead equipment upgrades, automation initiatives, facility improvements, and process optimization projects.
- Manage engineering budgets, capital expenditures, contractors, and external engineering partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes, reduce downtime, and increase production capacity.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, engineering, and regulatory requirements.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex equipment and manufacturing issues.
- Establish engineering standards, maintenance KPIs, reliability metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
- P.Eng. designation is strongly preferred and considered a significant asset.
- Engineering degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive engineering, maintenance, reliability, or manufacturing leadership experience.
- Strong experience within CPG, consumer products, packaging, or similar high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience leading maintenance and reliability programs.
- Strong track record managing capital projects from planning through implementation.
- Experience with automated manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Demonstrated people leadership experience with engineering and/or maintenance teams.
- Strong understanding of preventive/predictive maintenance, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and reliability engineering.
- Excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
