About the Opportunity
Our client is a large global consumer packaged goods (CPG) organization with a highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing facility in Vancouver. They are looking for an experienced Plant Manager to lead overall site operations and drive performance across production, safety, quality, maintenance, and packaging.
This is a unionized manufacturing environment requiring a hands-on, people-focused leader who can build strong relationships with employees while maintaining high operational standards and delivering against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall day-to-day operations of the manufacturing plant.
- Manage and develop a team across production, maintenance, quality, safety, and packaging operations.
- Drive performance against key plant KPIs, including productivity, efficiency, quality, safety, waste, downtime, and cost.
- Provide leadership in a highly automated manufacturing environment, identifying opportunities to improve processes and equipment performance.
- Maintain a strong focus on employee health and safety, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are consistently achieved.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational excellence, productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
- Build positive relationships within a unionized workforce and work effectively with union representatives.
- Develop frontline leaders and create a strong culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with corporate and regional leadership to implement strategic initiatives and operational standards.
- Ensure all products meet required quality and food/product safety standards.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related discipline is required
- Experience leading large-scale manufacturing or CPG operations.
- Strong people leadership experience, including managing supervisors, managers, and frontline production teams.
- Experience working in a unionized manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience with highly automated production facilities and modern manufacturing systems.
- Strong understanding of production, maintenance, quality, safety, and packaging operations.
- Proven experience managing plant KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
