Key Responsibilities:
- Stay up to date on the Rules of Civil Procedure, LAT Rules and Procedures, CCLA Practice Directions, Case Center / Case Lines submission requirements.
- Attend applicable law clerk seminars and continuing education relevant to the firms areas of practice.
- Draft professional correspondence and communicate with legal professionals, clients and court staff.
- Manage and monitor critical court
- Assist in the preparation of legal documents, including complaints, motions, and briefs.
- Draft and review legal correspondence and pleadings.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and address inquiries. Maintain client confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Assist in the discovery process by preparing and organizing evidence, managing case files, and coordinating with experts. Draft discovery requests and responses.
- Prepare and file court documents, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines. Track and manage case schedules and deadlines.
- Review and action incoming correspondence from lawyers, insurers, and other third parties.
- Responsible for moving files forward through the litigation process.
- Provide general administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing case-related documents.
Qualifications:
- Possess between 3 to 5 years of experience as a law clerk, with a strong background in injury law preferred. Experience in personal injury cases is highly desirable.
- Excellent research and writing skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal issues. Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and professionalism in legal practice.
- Post-secondary University Bachelor’s degree is an asset
